Arrests & Serious Crime

In 2005, RI State Police switched from a Summary Based Crime Reporting System to an enhanced, more efficient crime reporting system used nationwide - the National Incident Based Reporting System. Because of the difference in the number of offenses reported in the Summary system versus Incident Based Reporting, no trend information will be available until several years of Incident Based Data is collected.

All data can be found in the "Crime in RI" publication by the Rhode Island State Police, along with reports from several prior years, on the RI State Police website at RISP Uniform Crime Reporting Unit.
